According to the Department of Affairs, more than twenty veterans take their own lives every day. To help combat this issue, we are honoring Military Appreciation Month by bringing awareness to two exceptional organizations here in the Central Savannah River Area by donating $22 for every vehicle sold to ForcesUnited.
When a customer buys a new or used vehicle near North Augusta, South Carolina, they are helping to fight against the struggle our veterans and active military personnel face every day.
ForcesUnited, formerly the Augusta Warrior Project, is the only local non-profit organization of its kind that offers the necessary resources to help local veterans — wounded or not — and their families. Here at Bob Richards Nissan, our team is proud to help Forces United take a comprehensive focus to discover means overcoming the challenges our Beech Island veterans and their families face.
Mission 22 is another non-profit organization our local Nissan dealership is proud to work with. Their mission is to fight the ever-rising suicide rate among veterans. Currently, more than twenty veterans are lost to suicide every day in this country. Mission 22's goal is to reduce that number to zero. It does this with three main programs:
Mission 22 offers treatment programs to veterans for Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress, and other common issues found in this community. Mission 22 organizes events and builds memorials to create social impact and awareness for the difficulties our military personnel face when returning from combat. Mission 22 also offers an Ambassador volunteer program if you would like to get involved with their organization directly.
The volunteer ambassadors help get veterans into Mission 22 treatment programs, create resources in their communities, and educate the public on veteran issues. Through these three programs, we can push for the betterment of our nation's heroes and stand united in the war against veteran suicide.
